What this tool is
Warrant Path is a free, browser-based questionnaire that fills in Texas search-warrant, affidavit, order, and preservation-letter templates from your answers. It runs entirely client-side — see Privacy for details on what is (and isn't) collected.
Not legal advice
Warrant Path does not provide legal advice, does not draft your probable-cause narrative, and does not review the facts of your case. It is not a law firm, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. Every document it produces still needs your case-specific facts added by hand and must be reviewed by your agency and prosecutor before filing, exactly as the underlying templates require.
No warranty
Warrant Path is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including any warranty that the templates are complete, accurate, or up to date, or fit for a particular purpose. Statutes, case law, and provider policies referenced in this tool can and do change; confirm current law and provider practice before relying on any generated document.
Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter, for reviewing every field in the documents this tool generates, and for that document's compliance with your jurisdiction's requirements, your agency's policies, and your prosecutor's review process. This tool handles field placement only — it does not verify that a given warrant is appropriate for your facts, or that you have probable cause.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the creator of Warrant Path disclaims liability for any damages or consequences — direct, indirect, incidental, or otherwise — arising from your use of this tool or reliance on any document it generates.
Third-party links
Some templates link to a records provider's own law-enforcement portal (for example, Apple's or Google's law-enforcement request systems). Those sites are operated by the providers themselves, and Warrant Path isn't responsible for their content or availability.
Source and changes
Warrant Path's source is public on GitHub. These terms may be updated from time to time; the date at the top reflects the last change.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
